When Princess Amelie of Amborix is murdered by magical means, Annie Pearce and Bobby “Cham” Chamsky of the Wizard’s Guard are called in by the FBI. Their job is to help solve the crime while keeping the non-magical world from discovering the existence of the Wizard Council.
During their investigation, Annie and Cham discover that Princess Amelie’s death is connected to a series of other crimes in the Chicago area. A larger plot involving, a vampire, a rogue wizard and an army of soul-less zombies is revealed, but can Annie and Cham discover who is responsible before The Day of First Sun?
My Thoughts...
What I really liked about this book was all the different paranormal factions represented, we have: witches, vampires and fairies, which make for a fun and exciting story.
Annie and Cham childhood friends have grown up doing everything together including partnering up at work, but theirs isn't any workplace they work at the Wizard Council, a magical police force which deals with the paranormal, and they and all working there are wizard's.
Annie and Cham are both brought in on a case when it's found that Princess Amelie of Amborix was killed by magical means, their investigation leads them to her boyfriend Jordan who was there at the time but managed to escape and is now in hiding, they manage to find him, and not just him but a vampire Sturtagaard whom Annie has been trying to capture for quite a while now.
They discover that Jordan and the princess had stolen an orb not knowing how powerful it is or the drastic measures the owner will go to, to get it back, and Sturtagaard was planning on stealing the orb back from Jordan to help his employer create a zombie army to take over the Wizard Council.
Annie and Cham work to find out who this mysterious employer of Sturtagaard is, and also to find the traitor working at the Wizard Council, and while all this is going on Annie and Cham finally admit their feelings for one another much to the delight of evryone around them.
This book makes for a great start to what I'm sure will be a fantastic series now off to start the second book She Wulf.
I give this 3.5/5.
