Divergent Movie News.

‘Divergent’ Scheduled For March 21, 2014

Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment announced today that the filmed adaptation of the young adult adventure novel Divergent will open wide in North America on March 21, 2014. So far, it has the release date all to itself (it’s sandwiched between Fox’s Me And My Shadow on March 14, 2014 and Paramount’s Noah on March 28). The book was written by 23-year-old author Veronica Roth and has topped the New York Times Best Sellers list since it was published in May 2011 by Katherine Tegen Books/HarperCollins Publishers.Divergent is set in a future where America is divided into five ideological factions to stabilize society and uphold peace. Every citizen must choose a permanent faction at age 16 – either their own or another. The story focuses on Beatrice Prior, who is struggling to survive her initiation into the most aggressive and physically demanding of the factions. Evan Daugherty is penning the screenplay along with a yet-to-be-announced filmmaker. Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher will produce under their Red Wagon Entertainment banner, along with Pouya Shahbazian.

Blog Tour: The Fire Wars - Kailin Gow, Book Review (137) & (138).

The Fire Wars (Fire Wars #1)

Publication: 17th October 2011
Publisher: The Edge
Pages: 262
Genre: Dystopian/Fantasy
Age Appropriate: Young Adult
A dystopian romance that takes place on an island and is the melding of mythologies from two different cultures.

Her destiny was written in the books...but can she change a course that has already begun thousands of years ago?

Mackenzy Evers had moved with her mother from Angel Island to Aeros Island during her senior year. What can be worse than to finish her senior year at a new school?

Living during the post-Erosion period on Earth where there is less land than before, Mac is happy to discover an island of rich beauty and lush landscapes, not to mention mysterious handsome boys and an ancient prophecy that is set to come true in Mac's lifetime.

Chance Cutter claims she is his Queen, his goddess to his Fire King, whom he had been searching for years. Their attraction to each other is undeniable, yet why does he seem to hate her? And who is she really?

My Thoughts...
Kailin Gow has accomplished the unaccomplishable, for the first time that I can remember I cannot decide who I want the heroine to be with, I love them both and I find it extremely impossible to choose between the two, what Gow has given us is two extremely interesting, handsome and charismatic cousins Chance and Varun.
Mac has just moved to Aeros Island with her mother, on her first day of school she is introduced to cousins Chance and Varun, Chance seems very familiar and she realises that he is the masked boy that she danced with the night before but his demeanor towards her is anything but friendly and so she starts out dating Varun but although there is mutual attraction between the two she is inextricably drawn to Chance who is aloof whenever they are together.
But what Mac discovers is that the island is filled with people who are embodiments of gods and goddesses, and that she may be a the embodiment of a goddess that is the cause of the friction between Chance and Varun, with Chance being the Fire King and Varun the Water King and she has to make the choice of who to be with, but will history repeat itself  and have Mac and up with the one that she will end up leaving for the other?
I'm so loving this series, and can't wait to see where this series will go.
I give this 4/5.

Fire Stones (Fire Wars #2)

by

As the war between the water gods and fire gods rage on in the forms of their Embodiments, Mac was forced to take on the side of her mother’s, causing her to betray her eternal love Chance.  Her destiny still calls for them to be together, but now with her taking on the abilities of her mother’s heritage, things have gotten much more complicated.

Blog Tour And Giveaway: She Wulf - Sheryl Steines, Book Review (136).

She Wulf (Annie Loves Cham)

He came through the centuries to find her, the girl who could save them all. Annie Pearce runs through the streets of the city, chasing a demon, the likes she has never seen before. As she works to find out where the demon came from, the Wizard Guard encounters something even more bizarre. A tenth century Viking.

When Annie gets sucked into the past, she must struggle with the knowledge of the prophecy that tells of her destiny. The one she must fulfill if she is to return home. What happens in the past will change the world.

My Thoughts...
After finishing The Day Of First Sun I was eager to get to this book and continue on with Annie and Cham's adventures.
Steines' writing has improved with this second book in the series, and it was definitely more adventurous and nail-biting than the first.
Annie and Cham are lifelong friends whom finally admitted their feelings to each other in the previous book, have now been partnered up with other people, but Annie and Cham aren't your everyday ordinary people, they are wizards working for the Wizard Council, they are like the supernatural police, taking care of the cases that the human police could never handle.
Cham is causing trouble between Annie and her new partner Spencer, always showing up to help Annie with their cases which starts making her new partnership fraught with tension, it's on one such case that Annie comes across a demon, the likes of which she's never seen before, add that to the viking that Cham and his partner Gibbs are pursuing and they discover that the demon and the viking are both out of time, the viking was sent to our time for just one purpose and that was to find Annie and take her back to the tenth century.
Unbeknown to Annie she is part of a prophecy that will change her life forever, she and Spencer are hurtled back through time where Annie will discover her purpose, and change history forever.
I loved the story that took part in the tenth century, the era was described so well you almost felt like you were actually there.
And being out of time gave Annie and Spencer time to work on their partnership and depend on just one another without any interference, and of course the relationship between Annie and Cham, I think that they are the cutest couple and I hope we have more books released in this series to continue on their adventures together.
I give this 4/5.
Please enjoy this interview with Sheryl Steines, author of the action-packed urban fantasy, She Wulf. Then read on to learn how you can win huge prizes as part of this blog tour, including a Kindle Fire, $550 in Amazon gift cards, 5 autographed copies of She Wulf, and 5 copies of its companion, The Day of First Sun.   1. When you start a book do you know how it will end or do you create the ending as you go along? I have a rough idea of what the book will be about and I have some scene ideas and a rough ending. When I wrote The Day of First Sun, I knew that a high profile, non-magical person was going to be murdered by magic. I wrote out a paragraph of things that I wanted to see in the story and began writing. I didn’t look at the paragraph again until after the book was published and realized that I didn’t keep to my original thoughts at all. I tend to work without an outline because I feel tied to the story as if I’m trying to make everything fit. I prefer to let it flow and change. I like the freedom and the discovery. Sometimes I’m wildly surprised.
2. Do your book characters ever visit you in your dreams? Yes and no. Not as much when I’m sleeping, but I daydream about them all the time. It’s how I work out characters and storylines. It’s almost as if a movie is playing in my head and I can change and add to storylines. 3. What are your favorite authors as either an adult or a child? When I was a kid, I loved Nancy Drew. I read every one of them, but I didn’t just want to read them, I wished I had wrote them and started to write my own detective stories when I was seven. As I grew older, I read Judy Blume and Stephen King. Both made me feel something and from that I wanted to keep writing. I still read Stephen King and was very inspired by his autobiography On Writing. It was J.K. Rowling though, that reminded me of what I loved to read and that’s what inspired me to write my own fantasy novel. 4. How do you go about finishing a chapter when you can’t get it right? I skip it…Just kidding. No, actually I’m not. Sometimes, I make a note in all caps reminding me I haven’t finished the chapter and other notes that I might be thinking about for the chapter and start the next one. Sometimes you just need to move on. The answer will eventually hit you upside the head when you least expect it. 5. Describe your reaction when you saw and held your first book? I think I was numb when The Day of First Sun was published. Almost as if I had only done it to satisfy a selfish desire. It didn’t seem real. It was when I held She Wulf in my hands for the first time that I was overcome with emotion. This book consumed me for so long and I was so amazed by the final product and it seemed more than just a fantasy. 6. What is your biggest achievement to date? Writing my first book. I always wanted to and never gave myself the opportunity. One day I decided it was time. It changed my life, gave me confidence. I lost the extra baby weight, changed my wardrobe, straightened my hair and gave my girls a role model, an example of taking control of one’s life and being the best person you can be. 7. What’s your favorite color? Pink. I’ve always been a girly girl. As much as I’d like to be a sporty girl, I’m just not. It’s all about the pink, purses and shoes. 8. Favorite sound? I love the sound of rain on the roof. Not during the sunlight hours, but early in the morning when it’s still dark out. I snuggle under the covers. It makes me happy. 9. If you weren’t a writer, what would you be? An interior decorator. I love being creative and crafty and picking paint colors and getting lost in a fabric store. It’s almost as good as getting lost in a bookstore. 10. Worst fear? I fear the alligators under the bed. Since I was a kid I can’t sleep without something covering my feet incase they come and get me. Don’t laugh, Stephen King admitted the same thing in an interview once.   As part of this special promotional extravaganza sponsored by Novel Publicity, the price of the She Wulf eBook edition is just 99 cents this week--and so is the price of its companion, The Day of First Sun.
