Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?
I don't think that I've ever read a book that has been totally hyped up that I didn't like, Bloodrose - Andrea Cremer was one book I didn't like but I don't think it was necessarily what you would call hyped up.

Thursday's Mailbox. I've decided that I will stop participating in In My Mailbox, the reason being I seem to get a lot of books every week and it takes me forever to put them all together in one post and link them up. So I will be doing Mailbox Mon-Fri every week Review...
A dystopian romance that takes place on an island and is the melding of mythologies from two different cultures.
Her destiny was written in the books...but can she change a course that has already begun thousands of years ago?
Mackenzy Evers had moved with her mother from Angel Island to Aeros Island during her senior year. What can be worse than to finish her senior year at a new school?
Living during the post-Erosion period on Earth where there is less land than before, Mac is happy to discover an island of rich beauty and lush landscapes, not to mention mysterious handsome boys and an ancient prophecy that is set to come true in Mac's lifetime.
Chance Cutter claims she is his Queen, his goddess to his Fire King, whom he had been searching for years. Their attraction to each other is undeniable, yet why does he seem to hate her? And who is she really?
My Thoughts...
Kailin Gow has accomplished the unaccomplishable, for the first time that I can remember I cannot decide who I want the heroine to be with, I love them both and I find it extremely impossible to choose between the two, what Gow has given us is two extremely interesting, handsome and charismatic cousins Chance and Varun.
Mac has just moved to Aeros Island with her mother, on her first day of school she is introduced to cousins Chance and Varun, Chance seems very familiar and she realises that he is the masked boy that she danced with the night before but his demeanor towards her is anything but friendly and so she starts out dating Varun but although there is mutual attraction between the two she is inextricably drawn to Chance who is aloof whenever they are together.
But what Mac discovers is that the island is filled with people who are embodiments of gods and goddesses, and that she may be a the embodiment of a goddess that is the cause of the friction between Chance and Varun, with Chance being the Fire King and Varun the Water King and she has to make the choice of who to be with, but will history repeat itself and have Mac and up with the one that she will end up leaving for the other?
I'm so loving this series, and can't wait to see where this series will go.
Mac Evers can't believe how close she is with Chance now that they've finally allowed themselves to be with each other. But her past with Varun and her quest for the goddess Vesta's magical stones can tear her away from him forever.
My Thoughts...
I'm loving these books, although the cliffhangers are a killer and I definitely recommend you have the next books in the series close by to carry on with.
Well book two and I'm still no closer to deciding who I prefer for the heroine Mac to be with, Chance or Varun I'm still torn, maybe she can just choose one and send the other one my way!
Mac has chosen to be with Chance although she still has strong feelings for Varun, she has the task of recovering all of the stones that the Vesta goddess had hidden to be found by someone worthy before she can take part in the ritual that may just prove that she is the embodiment of Vesta.
But with the attacks and threats against her life to stop her from fulfilling the ritual she may just find that her decision may be made for her.
I love the mythology throughout this book, you actually learn a lot about ancient gods and goddesses and I really like that.
I highly recommend this series, it's fantastic.
I give this 4/5.
Be sure to check out book 3 Fire Dance.
As the war between the water gods and fire gods rage on in the forms of their Embodiments, Mac was forced to take on the side of her mother’s, causing her to betray her eternal love Chance. Her destiny still calls for them to be together, but now with her taking on the abilities of her mother’s heritage, things have gotten much more complicated.

In a world overrun with people and narrowing resources, the basis of life has turned to do or die. No longer does the balance of wealth and power apply. A strict split between the rich and poor has made the lines clear- the more money you have, the more power you control.
For seventeen year old Emily Beucant, life is an equal gift and curse. Having grown up pre- Unwanted society, she can still remember the days it was okay to play with children from the other side of the concrete wall, back when her father was still alive, and back when the Unwanted program was used to Mark and hunt criminals, not sign away the lives of ungrateful children or spouses with high insurance collections over their heads.
But since her father's creation of the program, the government has taken control and made it into a lucrative monster. And as Emily is days away from her eighteenth birthday, and handsome inheritance, she will soon see just how badly it is to be Marked.
When her soulless aunt places Emily up to be Marked an Unwanted, she is forced to go on the run from all she has ever known. No where is safe for her, and no one will protect her, least they wish to have the same fate as her. It isn't until she forms a tense, explosive alliance with a former doctor, Ben, that it looks like the tables may turn in her favor. Together they race against those searching for her, desperate to find a way to free her from an early death. But is it too late?
Shipwrecked on an island seven years ago, Lucy has been warned she must never sing, or disaster will strike. But on All Hallows Eve, Lucy hears tantalizing music in the air. When she sings it, she unlocks a terrible secret: She is a Chantress, a spell-singer, brought to the island not by shipwreck but by a desperate enchantment gone wrong.
Her song lands her back in England — and in mortal peril, for the kingdom lies in the cruel grasp of a powerful Lord Protector and his mind-reading hunters, the Shadowgrims. The Protector has killed all Chantresses, for they alone can destroy the Shadowgrims. Only Lucy has survived.
In terrible danger, Lucy takes shelter with Nat, a spy who turns her heart upside-down. Nat has been working with his fellow scholars of the Invisible College to overthrow the Lord Protector, and they have long hoped to find a living Chantress to help them. But Lucy is completely untrained, and Nat deeply distrusts her magic. If Lucy cannot master the songspells, how long can she even stay alive?
Beguiling and lyrical, dangerous and romantic, Chantress will capture readers in a spell they won’t want to break.
